NEW DELHI – Oct. 30, 2004 – The third annual Juris Cup golf event was organized at the Greg Norman designed 18-hole par-72 championship golf course, Jaypee Greens Golf Resort at Greater Noida, near New Delhi, recently.

The event was played between the Judges and the Lawyers. A total number of 63 golfers took part in the event. Arun Malik emerged victorious finishing the day with a score of 37 points to lift the title. He beat Karan Singh who finished second with a score of 35 points. P. V. Kapoor finished third at a score of 33 points.

The one-day event was well received. Ms. Rita Dixit, Executive Director – Jaypee Greens Ltd. Said, “We are highly encouraged by the response of the country’s leading Judges and Lawyers and are looking forward to hosting more tournaments like this in future.”
The prize distribution ceremony took place immediately after the game at Jaypee Greens golf resort, which was followed by Lunch for all participants.

The tournament was played on Stable Ford format. The field for the event included names such as Retd. Chief Justices of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice B. N. Kripal and Hon’ble Mr. Justice K. N. Singh. The event also included Judges of Supreme Court, Hon’ble Mr. Justice S. N. Variava and Hon’ble Mr. Justice B. P. Singh. The other prominent names included Hon’ble Mr. Justice C. K. Mahajan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice B. A. Khan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice C. K. Prasad, Hon’ble Mr. Justice (Retd.) J. D. Kapoor, Hon’ble Mr. Justice (Retd.) C. M. Nayar etc. to name a few.

Amongst the eminent Judges and Lawyers, there were female golfers also such as Ms. June Chaudhari, Ms. Meera Bhatia etc. who competed with their male colleagues in the same event with great enthusiasm.

In the special category of prizes, Anand Chibber was accurate with his drives as he bagged the ‘Straightest Drive’ award. J. P. Singh won the ‘Longest Drive’ prize. Arun Bhardwaj won the ‘Closest to the pin’ award. K. R. Jha and Inderbir Singh Alag bagged the maximum Birdies and maximum Par awards respectively. There were separate individual prizes for best score for Judges and Lawyers also.
