12th Annual Marriott Southern Arizona Golf Invitational prepares

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Hit the greens for charity and open your heart to the community! The 12th Annual Marriott Southern Arizona Golf Invitational brings golfers and Tucsonans together to raise much-needed funds for deserving Tucson charities. Every golfer and every contribution counts - more players means more funds for those in need across Southern Arizona. The resort and the signature Arnold Palmer Golf Course act as beautiful focal points for the event. This year's invitational will take place on Friday, November 21, 2008.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children's Miracle Network/Tucson Medical Center Foundation, Tucson Conquistadors, and the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Autism Society of America. Since its inception, the Marriott Southern Arizona Golf Invitational has raised more than $200,000.

Marriott International has been a sponsor of Children's Miracle Network for 26 years and is Children's Miracle Network's longest sustaining sponsor. Marriott takes pride in its long-held "spirit to serve" philosophy and has a sincere desire to help all the communities where they operate.

The golf invitational is followed by an elegant evening gala and silent auction at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa. Golf registration begins at 10 a.m., while the evening reception begins at 6 p.m. A silent auction will be ongoing throughout the day's golf events.

Business sponsorships start at $2,500 and include player gifts, lunch, company signage, tickets to evening gala, live auction and more, depending on level of sponsorship.
This year's live auction includes an exciting array of featured items. The impressive list of items, among many more, includes:

--VIP grandstand seats to the 2008 or 2009 Macy's Parade
--Muhammad Ali signed robe and glove with a mounted color photo framed display
--Peyton and Eli Manning signed Colts and Giants helmets in a display case
--A framed electric guitar signed by all four members of The Rolling Stones
--Shaquille O'Neal's three-time NBA Championship autographed size 23 sneaker
--A Green Bay Packers helmet signed by Brett Favre
--A framed electric guitar signed by Paul McCartney
--Photo collage autographed by 14-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps
--A New England Patriots helmet signed by Tom Brady

The tournament continues to flourish year after year because of one key ingredient: its supporters. So, gather your perfect foursome and tee it up for charity! With the golf foursome, you'll get much more than just a round of golf. A welcome gift, lunch, and two tickets per player to the evening gala are all part of the package.

This year's goal of raising more than ever is within reach, as the turnout by the Tucson community is always spectacular. For registration information, please visit www.golfinvite.com/marriottgolftournament or contact Judith Carlson at (520) 670-0301.

About JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa:
As the only resort in Southern Arizona to be named to the Travel + Leisure 2008 World's Best Hotels Top 500 List, Starr Pass draws on the beauty of its mountainous location. The resort incorporates the natural desert as its landscape design theme. With 575 spacious guestrooms, 88,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, five restaurants, a 20,000 sq. ft. spa, four separate pools, a lazy river and water slide, an Arnold Palmer Signature golf facility and 888 underground and covered parking spaces, the resort boasts of being not only the largest resort in southern Arizona, but also the only true eco-resort in Tucson. Since opening in 2005, the resort has donated over 250 acres of land to preservations in Tucson Mountain Park. This eco theme extends to its restaurants, which serve only 100% line caught fish; its Hashani Spa, which uses natural desert plant oils; recycling programs; and direct access to the nature trails of Tucson Mountain Park. The resort continues to develop new and successful "green" initiatives. To quote Bill Marriott, "you can build all types of amenities but it would be impossible to duplicate what Starr Pass has, the Tucson Mountain Park." The JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa is located at 3800 W. Starr Pass and can be reached directly by calling (520) 792-3500. Please visit www.jwmarriottstarrpass.com.
