William K. Wolfrum: Korean golfer Michelle Wie shows charity

The agents of professional golfer Michelle Wie have recently made headlines by donating $300,000 of Wie's money to a South Korean hospital.

The money is going to help needy children at Yonsei Severance Hospital and Korea University Medical Center and will undoubtedly make a world of difference to them. All in all, it was a wonderful act of charity by the handlers of a young Korean girl.

Oh, didn't you hear? Michelle Wie is not an American. She's Korean. At least so says her dad.

"I’m well aware there that some say, since Michelle Wie is an American why is she making such a fuss," B.J. Wie told the Chosun Ilbo. "But you know what, the only thing about her that’s American is her passport, she is "definitely" Korean."

B.J. Wie reportedly went on to say that while his daughter was born in America, her first words were Korean, and that she did not start learning English until after she was attending school.

Wie will be the big draw for two rounds in her home country next week at the SK Telecom Open, which she is reportedly receiving an appearance fee of $700,000.

Golfers Joo Mi Kim, Meena Lee, Pak Se Ri, Mi Hyun Kim, Sung Ah Yim, Grace Park, Sung Ah Yim, Soo Young Moon and Song Aree had no comment to this story, nor did pool shark Jeanette Lee.
