MEDFORD, Ore. -- Upon opening in May of 2006 the John Fought-designed Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Oregon immediately became a popular venue for golf tournaments, group outings and competitive events. The summer of 2008 was no different with Centennial hosting the 20th Oregon Mid Amateur Championship, the annual Chad Cota Golf Shootout, the Rogue Valley Manor Foundation Tournament and the popular Rogue Valley Stroke Play Championship.
"In just a couple of years, Centennial Golf Club has quickly created a decorated tradition of hosting premier events," said Dave Goff, vice president of operations for OB Sports, the management company at Centennial. "From helping raise tens of thousands of charitable dollars to the execution of top-notch competitive events, our team of professionals at the club has established Centennial as the premier golf tournament venue in Southern Oregon and beyond," added Goff.
Below is a recap just of few of the 2008 events that is highlighted yet another busy tournament season for Centennial Golf Club:
20th Oregon Mid Amateur Championship
Centennial Golf Club was honored to host the 20th Oregon Mid Amateur Championship earlier this summer. Established in 1988, the Mid-Amateur Championship is a 36-hole stroke play event conducted by the Oregon Golf Association. The minimum qualification for entrants is a handicap index of 10.0 or less for men and 22.4 or less for women. The 2008 event featured some excellent scoring with the Men's division champion, Jeff Nielson of Gresham, OR, shooting 67, 69 for a two round total of nine-under 136. Nielson edged out Bend resident, Todd Strible by two strokes who shot 70-68, 138. Lara Tennant of Portland, earned her second Oregon Mid-Amateur title in the Women's division after shooing even par 71-73, 144. Tennant was five shots clear of Medford resident, Trina Rasmussen who placed second by shooting 73-76, 149.

Chad Cota Golf Shootout - Presented by InfoStructure
The Chad Cota Golf Shootout, presented by InfoStructure benefits the Chad Cota Foundation and a number of charitable organizations including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, CASA of Jackson County, local school athletics and the Bulldog Boxing Club. Founded by retired NFL professional Chad Cota (who played football Ashland High and was a first team all Pac 10 safety for the University of Oregon Ducks) this event has played host to a number of celebrities an athletes including former NFL players such as Ronnie Lott, Josh Bidwell, Cade McNown and University of Oregon Head Football Coach Mike Bellotti, to name a few. The 2008 event included a private VIP concert with country recording artist Jimmy Wayne and two free kid's football camps held at area schools. Rogue Valley Manor Foundation Benefit Tournament
The 16th Annual Rogue Valley Manor Foundation Tournament was a tremendous success raising over $135,000 for the community at this years event. This popular charitable has been played at Centennial for three consecutive years and raises money for: community housing for low income seniors, the foster grandparent program, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the RVM Health Center Operating Fund and transportation program.
