Kaufman Organization teams up with golf-school founder McLean

MIAMI (April 2006) -- The Blue Monster is one of the most historic and prestigious golf courses in the country. Jim McLean Golf Schools are consistently rated among the best in the golf instruction business. The city of Doral is a growing metropolis – home to more than 29,000 residents and host to 100,000 people who work within the city. Add to that the introduction of The Blue, luxurious 5-star resort hotel condominiums with a prestigious and exclusive location adjacent to the 12th and 13th fairways of the Blue Monster, and Jim McLean and fellow owners of these residences will be a part of one of the top golf vacation destinations on the globe.

Jerry Kaufman, CEO and Chairman of The Kaufman Organization, the developer of The Blue, has announced that Jim McLean, Founder and Owner of the Jim McLean Golf Schools, will be an owner as well as one of their more public faces.

“Our affiliation with Jim McLean demonstrates the level of quality and excellence that The Blue strives for, as he similarly strives for excellence in his field,” stated Kaufman. “Our goals are the same - to provide the highest level and quality product – whether it’s providing the best golf instruction available or an elite resort hotel condominium. Mr. McLean wouldn’t be associated with an effort that didn’t strive for the same level of excellence and high standards that he holds himself to, so we’re honored to have him on board as a spokesperson and future owner at The Blue.”

The desirable location as well as its relationship with McLean establishes The Blue as one of the future top golf destinations - one that probably won’t last long on the real estate market before it’s completely sold out. The Blue will be a golfer’s dream home or a luxury vacation getaway, offering everything a golfer could ever want or need right at their fingertips.

“With five championship golf courses, including The Blue Monster, and our golf school next door, the location of The Blue at Doral is absolutely incredible for golfers. Plus, Doral is a great city for non-golfers - fine restaurants, great shopping, it’s close to the beaches and the airports,” commented McLean. “I was ready to sign on the dotted line for my own residence at The Blue as soon as I heard about the resort hotel condominium advantages,” he added.

The Blue will be the one and only property ever to be built adjacent to the legendary Blue Monster. It will be built with master craftsmanship, entail sleekly designed interiors and include outstanding amenities such as an expansive clubhouse and pool, fitness center, spa services and restaurant. Each one of fifteen buildings will reflect grand old Floridian style, with 16 five-star suites in each for a total of 240 residences, every one providing sweeping views of the Blue Monster golf course. Additionally, owners at The Blue will receive a Blue View Sport Membership to the nearby Doral Resort & Spa.

“The opportunity to have a second home in Doral is ideal and convenient, especially one that is modern, tasteful and offers the finest living amenities,” McLean said. “I can enjoy the suite myself and be next door to my golf school, offer it to friends and family who visit, or have the opportunity to enter into a rental management program to allow visitors of Doral and my golf school an additional lodging option with deluxe accommodations. So it’s a win-win situation all around.”

McLean is one of golf's most effective instructors and is regularly listed as one of America’s top golf instructors in publications such as GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest and regularly appears on The Golf Channel’s “Golf Academy Live”. Since 1991 Doral has been home to the Jim McLean School of Golf, which has been ranked the #1 golf school in America by U.S World and News Report, CNN and Travel + Leisure Magazine. In 1994 McLean was the recipient of the PGA National Teacher of the Year Award.

The Kaufman Organization is the developer for The Blue. Interior design is by The Howard Design Group and Fugleberg Koch Architects, Inc. of Maitland, Florida is the architecture firm hired for the luxury resort hotel condominium.
