Chris Baldwin: Michelle Wie's 60 Minutes "interview" lacks legs

Michelle Wie appeared on 60 Minutes Sunday night. They called it an interview. Which makes James Lipton's gushing sit-down with runaway comedian Dave Chappelle on Inside the Actors Studio look like a Watergate grilling.

My favorite exchange had to be when reporter Steve Kroft asked breathlessly "You think you look ugly?"

And Wie responded, "Only in the morning."

The only thing missing was learning what kind of tree the Winless Wonder wanted to be.

For once, I really don't have a problem with Michelle Wie. She did her usual marketing machine song and dance, stayed within the character created for her with grace.

But what is it with 60 Minutes and its sudden rash of fawning golf "interviews"? A few weeks ago, we had Ed Bradley all but begging Tiger Woods to let him be the godfather of his future kids. Now, it's Wie love.

Can we leave the sports to people who will actual cover it with some objectivity?

Kroft did get Wie to essentially admit that she's been a pro all along in everything but name. Shocker.

"I thought it was gonna be like this whole new thing," Wie said of officially turning pro. "Like oh my God, I feel like a new person. But I don't. Totally overrated."

It would be when you're actually 0 for 33 in professional golf tournaments. It doesn't feel different, because nothing's changed. Wie was guaranteed riches and diva treatment all along. She never could win.

For anyone who wants to watch Wie tackle these tough questions, you can find clips here.
