ATLANTA (April 12, 2006) -- GolfBuzz.com aims to connect the globe’s 61 million golf aficionados in a free online community where it never rains and the greens are always perfect.
Fast-growing “Social Networking” Web sites are connecting former classmates, like-minded politicos, business colleagues and more. The latest group to get their own online neighborhood may also be one of the largest.
“We created GolfBuzz.com to connect golf enthusiasts like us to each other—and to the game we love,” says Patrick Coulson, one of one of the social networking site’s founders. “Like most golfers, we want to lower our handicaps, play more rounds, find more places to play, and build a larger network of golfing friends and associates. When we couldn’t find a single Web site that would help us do all that, we created GolfBuzz.com.”
“Golf is an extremely social sport,” notes Coulson, “and it is more fun when it is experienced with friends. So our portal that makes it easy for people all over the world to link up and pursue their golfing obsession anytime, day or night.”
Coulson is quick to point out that networking is just part of the attraction. Members can also find new places to play using the Web’s most sophisticated Course Finder search tool. “You can compare course profiles side-by-side, and search results even include real-time local weather data and point-to-point driving directions,” says Coulson.
GolfBuzz.com has been in development for over a year, and new features will be released throughout the spring and summer of 2006. “Travelers will love the Advanced Search feature, set to go live in mid-April,” he adds. “You can pick courses from your own list of favorites, and the system will search the courses near your destination to find ones that are similar to the courses you like to play at home.”
