Google Earth technology lets Golf Smarter podcast go interactive

April 12, 2006 -- GOLF SMARTER the podcast that provides shot by shot instruction on how to play a specific course, has added a new feature that allows listeners to “virtually” stand on the teebox and look down the fairway while listening to the course PGA Professional. While interacting with Google Earth, a free application that puts satellite imagery and other geographic information right on your desktop, you can enhance your listening experience.

“First there was audio podcasts, then video podcasts, but GOLF SMARTER may be the first podcast that utilizes satellite imagery to enhance the value to our audience.” According to program host and producer, Fred Greene. “This was the idea of a listener, who is now updating the files weekly for everyone.”

Once a GOLF SMARTER subscriber downloads the file instructions for Google Earth from teetour.com, the updates to each course featured will be automatically provided with each new program. You can have an overhead view of the course, or click on the hole number that is discussed and listen while “standing” on the course. All of the past programs of GOLF SMARTER have been updated so that you can go back and watch each course as you listen.
This week’s program features the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda. Listeners can view the 6 holes discussed from various angles on their computer while listening to General Manager, Bill Pitt explain how to successfully execute each shot.

Each GOLF SMARTER program focuses on course management tips for golfers of all levels and features a single interview with an expert from the golf industry. The GOLF SMARTER podcast is currently available on the host website, http://www.teetour.com/podcasts/golfSmarterPodcast.html or can be found on iTunes, podcast.yahoo.com among other podcast hosting websites.
Greene Creative Services, producer of GOLF SMARTER, is the creator of the TeeTour™ video production service for resort and destination courses. TeeTour™ provides a shot-by-shot video guide of a course that can be made available on the property’s website, a hotel’s in-house channel, on DVD equipped golf carts, and/or for sale in the pro shop.
