Free Lesson Month in May aims to spur golf participation

Throughout the month of May The PGA of America, Golf Digest, The Golf Channel and Golf for Women are again working together to offer Free Lesson Month as a growth-of-the-game initiative.

In 2005, nearly 7,000 golf professionals participated in the program designed to reach new golfers and help existing golfers improve their games with free 10-minute lessons given throughout the month of May.

Nike Golf is the official program sponsor and provides sweepstakes prizes. Every golfer who takes a free lesson and sends in a free lesson card will be entered to win a grand prize sweepstakes package.

The amateur grand prize winner, picked at random, will win a four-day trip to the PGA Village which includes a three-day PGA Golf School in Port St. Lucie, Fla. They will also win a custom-fit set of Nike golf clubs and $1,000 worth of Nike apparel. Anyone interested in a lesson can find a complete list of participating facilities at www.playgolfamerica.com, beginning in April.
