ORLANDO, Fla. (March 16, 2006) -- Paychex, Inc., a leading provider of payroll and human resource services headquartered in Rochester, New York, has signed a lifetime sponsorship contract with six-time PGA winner Jeff Sluman. Paychex President and Chief Executive Officer Jonathan J. Judge announced the agreement today at the Bay Hill Invitational in Orlando, Florida, during a ceremony recognizing the 20th anniversary of the partnership between Paychex and Sluman. Arnold Palmer, golf legend and principal owner of the Bay Hill Club, joined Judge, Sluman, and Scott Wellington, Bay Hill Invitational tournament director, for the ceremony.
Sluman, a Rochester native who makes his home in Chicago, has been representing Paychex since 1986, when the company first entered into an agreement with Sluman to be his sole hat sponsor. The partnership is one of the longest-running corporate sponsorships on the PGA Tour today.
"We've enjoyed a fantastic 20-year relationship with Jeff. He's a terrific golfer and an even better person," said Judge. "Our relationship with Jeff is truly one of a kind; Paychex has no other corporate sponsorships. It's a real source of pride for Paychex employees, shareholders, and clients to see Jeff wear the hat with our company name. As long as he's playing golf, we want to be associated with him."
Under terms of the lifetime sponsorship agreement, Paychex will be Sluman's sole hat sponsor as long as he chooses to play on the PGA Tour and/or the Champions Tour.
"It's been a wonderful relationship for me," Sluman said. "Things have been going very well for me since I started wearing the Paychex logo in 1986. I'm looking forward to continuing this partnership well into the future."
Sluman has played in the Bay Hill Invitational 16 times. The first year he played was 1986, the same year he entered into the sponsorship agreement with Paychex.
