How detailed is the new book that goes into Barry Bonds' steroid progression? Even Bill Clinton couldn't talk his way out of his one. Let alone bombastic Barry.

Baseball's nightmare is the kind of thing that should make PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem ever grateful modern golf has Tiger Woods as its historic star. You can bet Tiger will never do anything to embarrass golf.

Not that Finchem deserves any credit for this. His steroids stance is one of the biggest underreported jokes in sports. I wrote about this in February 2005 and little has changed since.

Finchem just got lucky. To have Woods as his sport's icon rather than a Bonds.

You can bet Bud Selig is wishing many more people were paying attention to Stubby Clapp than Barry Bonds. Who's Stubby Clapp? A nobody career minor leaguer who helped Canada upset the U.S. 8-6 in the World Baseball Classic in Phoenix Wednesday.

Stubby looks like he's about 5-foot-5 in person. Still, Selig would love for people to focus on him.

Of course, Stubby Clapp is just the type of player who could never make it in the bigs in the Bonds' growing head era. Don't think golf could not go there someday soon too.
