Donald Trump disuptes TravelGolf.com Top 10, issues challenge

Donald Trump recently called West Coast Bureau Chief Chris Baldwin unprompted to discuss TravelGolf.com's Top 10 Southern California Golf Courses story. The billionaire business tycoon/reality TV star/budding golf mogul specifically asked why his Trump National L.A. is not on the list.

Trump told Baldwin he read the story on TravelGolf.com - a site that draws 2.5 million readers per month. In the Top 10 story, Baldwin wrote, “These are all courses you can play whether Donald Trump returns your phone calls or not. (By the way, the Donald's new Trump National didn't make the cut). It's no doubt the start of great debate, liable to be as cozy warm as most of Southern California.”

This brought about a Trump invite challenge. By phone, Trump urged Baldwin to drive out and experience the course for himself and make judgments off that.

"Everyone's pretty much loved it," Trump told Baldwin. "Everyone except for you, really."

Baldwin accepted Trump's challenge, making a trip to California to review Trump National L.A. His review will be published next week.

Trump National L.A. is the third of the Trump National Golf Club courses, the only one on the West Coast and the only one open for public play. It is located on Palos Verdes Peninsula about 30 minutes south of downtown Los Angeles. It hosted the LPGA Office Depot Championship in early October, before opening to the public. Trump has said, "We wanted to build the best course in the state of California."
