HYATT DORADO BEACH & COUNTRY CLUB ANNOUNCES
THE GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW PLANTATION CLUB
HOUSE, ZAFRA RESTAURANT & LOUNGE, GOLF
PAVILION AND SUGARCANE & PINEAPPLE COURSES
DORADO, Puerto Rico (Feb. 17, 2006) -- The Hyatt
Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club in Dorado, Puerto
Rico, announces the opening of its new Plantation Club
House and Pavilion, Zafra Restaurant & Lounge and the
recently upgraded Sugarcane and Pineapple golf
courses, previously known as the North and South
courses. The two courses have been transformed with
six new holes, four redesigned holes, a driving range,
and new lakes and rivers in a $3 million upgrade. This
completes the total renovation of all the resort's
signature Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed courses. The
new $6.5 million, state-of-the-art, 45,000 square foot
Plantation Club House is the second at the resort. The
new Zafra Restaurant, serving eclectic new world
cuisine, is located in a valley overlooking a sequence of
mountains and surrounded by the exotic tropical
vegetation of the Plantation golf courses. Adjoining the
Club House is a new Pavilion accommodating golf
tournament groups, weddings and private functions of
up to 300 people. The grand opening of these new
facilities completes the $12 million golf investment that
Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort has committed to during the
past 5 years.
The renowned Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country
Club is steeped in history, having been built back in the
1950s when Laurance Rockefeller turned a grapefruit
and pineapple plantation into a spectacular oceanfront
resort. Today, the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort &
Country Club has become known as the Caribbean's
only boutique resort with mega resort amenities. The
resort boasts seven, white sun-drenched secluded
beaches with tranquil lagoons. There are 1,000 acres
ripe for exploration on foot, bicycle or trolley, including
three miles of marked nature trails. All four Robert
Trent Jones, Sr championship golf courses have recently
been renovated. There are four swimming pools
including the world-famous 1,700 foot long River Pool,
and one water sports center which offers Windsurfing
World Champion Lisa Penfield's windsurfing school,
snorkeling, jet skiing and more. Thirteen tennis courts,
seven restaurants, one Camp Hyatt, two locations of
Spa de Sol, one Casino, seven retail shops, one beauty
salon, one business center and 21,000 square feet of
meeting space round out the resort's amenities. Though
day trips around the island may be arranged through
the resort, with so many activities on property many
guests make Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country
Club their single destination of choice.
The Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club offers
guests sun, surf, sports and service with rates starting
