Feb. 15, 2006 -- On March 19 and 20, 2006 the largest Czech golf exhibition called GOLF SHOW 2006 will take place for the 11th time at Prague’s Trade Fair Palace. Companies dealing in golf equipment, clothing, footwear, lawn machines, simulators and other interesting products will once again be exhibiting at the show. Representatives from various golf courses and club will also be present among the exhibitors. A new feature at this year’s show will be a new section devoted to golf tourism.
In the Czech Republic GOLF SHOW (www.golfshow.cz) is a unique exhibition which focuses solely on golf, and includes a golf equipment section as well as a new special section called Golf Tourism in the Czech Republic aimed at providing space for joint promotions involving golf resorts and accommodation facilities and spas in the vicinity.
By creating the Golf Tourism in the Czech Republic section, the exhibition organisers are attempting to address the ever increasing demand for comprehensive services in this area, and promote golf resorts alongside nearby or partner accommodation facilities and spas. They have been working closely with the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism (www.CzechTourism.com, www.CzechTourism.cz) when organising the event which will take place under the auspices of the state organisation. CzechTourism has arranged for a group of foreign golf journalists and golf travel company representatives to visit the show. Czech incoming tour operators and other tourism bodies will also be taking part. Trade visitors will swell the ranks of the traditional visitor base. Around 1500 - 2000 visitors, mainly golfers, come to the exhibition every year. In the last few years, interest in the exhibition from people who do not actively play golf, but would like to start or just want more information about the sport, has been on the increase.
The programme will include an international press conference on the Boom in Golf Tourism in the Czech Republic, set to take place March 20, 2006 at 12:00 at the Trade Fair Palace press centre, with Czech and foreign journalist taking part. Another new feature at this year’s exhibition is a workshop which will take place March 20, 2006 from 15:00 at the Trade Fair Palace. At the workshop foreign tour operators will have the chance to learn more about what Czech incoming tour operators have to offer.
The GOLF SHOW Exhibition already enjoys a long tradition and good reputation in the Czech Republic. The first GOLF SHOW took place in 1996 at the U Hybernu Palace and involved around 30 Czech and foreign exhibitors. Heightened interest from exhibitors and the need for a larger exhibition space forced the organisers to switch in 1997 to the larger Trade Fair Palace, where that year around 60 exhibitors took part. In 1998 the exhibition took place in the Erpet sports hall and the next year it was part of the Sportprague trade fair. Since 2000 the show has found a stable home at the Trade Fair Palace. In 2006 around 60 exhibitors are expected to take part, but applications are still coming in for the traditional section as well as for the new Golf Tourism in the Czech Republic section. The exhibition space in 2006 has been increased by 250m2 (occupied by the new Golf Tourism in the Czech Republic section) to 2250m2.
The 11th GOLF SHOW has set itself the task of making Czech golf more popular among Czechs and foreigners alike, and follow on from the success of the Czech Republic at one of the most important golf tourism trade fairs, the IGTM (December 2005, Gran Canaria), where the Czech Republic was nominated in the ‘Undiscovered golf destination of the year’ category at the 6th IAGTO Awards. GOLF SHOW is striving to become an event which would attract the golf playing and non-golf playing public and provide an opportunity for media and tourism professionals to meet, form good business relationships and agree on new business deals.
