ROUND ROCK, Texas (Feb. 10, 2006) -- Personal accountability. Independence. Resilience. Technology aptitude.
These are some of the qualities students who attend the new Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC) are likely to develop. Dell and the TWLC are teaming up to ensure these students have access to a technology-rich learning environment that helps them develop those qualities. The technology was unveiled at the grand opening of the facility Friday in Anaheim, Calif.
As the official technology supplier to the TWLC, Dell is providing the center with Dell Intelligent Classroom(TM) technology, including Dell notebooks, wireless carts, Dell OptiPlex(TM) desktops, Dell printers and Dell projectors. In addition, the center will use Dell PowerEdge(TM) network servers to manage the student, administrative, communication and instructional information for the facility.
The TWLC includes:
-- Wireless-enabled classrooms with access to Dell notebooks, printers, teacher desktop systems and projectors
-- A computer lab with more than 100 computer stations with printers, wireless notebooks and docking stations
-- A 1,200-square-foot multimedia center designed to promote interest and aptitude in technology. Students can engage in graphic design, animation, sound engineering, video production and computer-aided design
-- A student lounge that doubles as wireless "hot spot" complete with learning kiosks so students can use technology to collaborate
"The Tiger Woods Learning Center is a philanthropic organization focused on innovative education," said Kathy Bihr, executive director, TWLC. "Our mission is to provide an interactive program that will improve our students' aptitude in reading, math, science and technology, and greater knowledge of their opportunities for the future. Dell's commitment to education mirrors our own, and by working together, we can provide our students with an outstanding, technology-rich environment where they can develop the skills they need to succeed in the future."
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Dell to support a worthwhile education program that provides benefits to the community," said Karen Bruett, Dell's vice president of K12. "We're honored to be able to share in this effort with the Tiger Woods Learning Center, helping students develop the skills they need to succeed."
