KAUAI, Hawaii -- For golfers who want to experience the best Kauai has to offer, three award-winning Kauai courses have joined together to offer the “Kauai Golf Challenge.” The package provides a round of golf at Poipu Bay Golf Course on Kauai’s south shore, the Kiele Course at Kauai Lagoons Golf Club on the island’s eastern coast and the Prince Course at Princeville at Hanalei on the north shore. These three courses have been ranked among the top golf courses in Hawaii and the United States by such publications as Golf Magazine, Golfweek, Conde Nast Traveler and Golf Digest (rankings noted below).
The Kauai Golf Challenge includes one round of golf at each of the three resort courses, including green fees, shared cart, use of the driving range and other course amenities for $390 per person (including taxes). The three rounds are non-transferable and must be used by December 31, 2006.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Poipu Bay Golf Course’s 210 oceanfront acres meander along rugged coastline, featuring spectacular vistas, 85 bunkers, five water hazards and wildly varying trade winds. Home to the prestigious season-end PGA Grand Slam of Golf since 1994, Poipu Bay is ranked by Golf Digest as one of “Hawaii’s Top 15 Golf Courses” and, along with the adjacent Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, one of “America’s 75 Best Golf Resorts.”
The Kiele Course, on Kauai’s eastern shore, is part of the 36-hole Kauai Lagoons Golf Club. Master-minded by course designer Jack Nicklaus, Kiele’s wide ravines, magnificent ocean holes with menacing cliffs and 40 acres of tropical fresh water lagoons do their best to distract event the most disciplined of players. The Kiele Course is ranked #6 in Hawaii by Golf Digest and is also included on the publication’s 2005-2006 list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses.”
The Prince Course, located at Princeville at Hanalei, is one of Hawaii’s most challenging courses, encompassing 390 acres of rolling terrain, tropical jungles, gullies, streams and waterfalls. The masterpiece of Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Prince is ranked by Golf Digest as Hawaii’s number one golf course and is the only course in the State of Hawaii to be recognized on the magazine’s 2005-2006 list of “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.” As an alternative to the 18-hole Prince, golfers on the Kauai Golf Challenge are offered the option to play Princeville’s Makai Course, Hawaii’s premiere 27-hole layout and one of Golf Digest’s “Top 15” in Hawaii.
