THE WOODLANDS, Texas (Feb. 7, 2006) -- Joe Anderson, golf course superintendent at Center (Texas) Country Club birdied the first playoff hole to win the 2006 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) National Golf Championship, conducted at Redstone Golf Club, Feb. 5-7.
Anderson carded a 54-hole total of 227, which left him tied after regulation with Chris Webster, golf course superintendent at Lakeside Country Club in Houston. Anderson birdied the par four, No. 1 to claim the title. He also had a one-stroke lead over Webster entering the final round.
The GCSAA National Championship and Golf Classic is presented in partnership with The Toro Co. It will be conducted next year in Palm Springs, Calif.
