AUSTIN, Texas (Feb. 2, 2006) -- What better way to begin the spring golf season than with a golf school? The Chuck Cook Golf Academy at Barton Creek Resort & Spa is offering a variety of schools this Spring and Fall to meet the needs of all golfers. Choose from a great curriculum of two- and three-day schools—All-In-One, Ladies-Only, Short Game, Family Tee Together, and a five-day Junior Academy. The Total Golf, Individual, and Corporate programs are available year round. You don’t have to be a pro to participate; each school is designed to help beginners and occasional golfers, as well as more serious advanced players looking for an edge over their next foursome.
The All-In-One covers all aspects of the game of golf; the Ladies-Only pays attention to the different priorities women have in golf; the Short-Game includes a comprehensive wedge and putter fitting—essential to the short game; and the Family Tee Together combines a family learning environment with top-notch instruction. The Junior Academy is a comprehensive camp designed to introduce new juniors to golf and upgrade more experienced golfers to college level; a highlight of the Junior Camp is lunch time visits with golf pros. The Total Golf school is designed for the serious golfer and includes an individual assessment of your game, including fitness, mental outlook, equipment, strategy and biomechanics, as well as a psychological test and a club fitting.
One of the nation’s premier golf schools, the Academy offers an approach to assessing the student’s golf game in a way unlike any other available today. Director of Instruction, Chuck Cook, calls it “Balanced Golf,” and he incorporates the same methods used to generate winners at professional levels. The Academy features hitting bays that oversee the driving range, five short-game holes for practicing putting, chipping up to 70 yards, an area designed for the sand game, an eight-camera state-of-the-art J.C. Video system that measures ball and clubhead speed, a library of over 100 professional swings for comparison, and full-service club fitting and repairs. The Academy combines training and pleasure in the Rock House, a classic Hill Country stone house, at the scenic award-winning Fazio Canyons course. The Rock House is fully equipped with day lockers, a large classroom with big screen TV, a refreshment area and an outdoor patio next to a creek, creating Barton Creek’s signature Hill Country atmosphere.
Academy Staff at the Chuck Cook Golf Academy include Cook himself, certified instructors Barbara Puett, Layne Savoie, and Brech Spradley. Academy administrator Bobby Dean is a certified club repair specialist and certified Edel putter fitting specialist. Cook is recognized as one of the top 10 golf teachers in the U.S. and as one of the top 50 teachers of the 20th Century. “Our goal is to improve the games and meet the needs of all golfers. That’s what keeps us the state’s best facility,” said Chuck Cook. All instructors at the Academy have taught thousands of golfers of all abilities, and all have had the opportunity to teach, coach, or play at the highest levels.
