Escena Club opens in Palm Springs, residential enclaves planned

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (Jan. 31, 2006) -- With a complete sell out in its first month of operation, golfers are ecstatic over the new Escena Golf Club. And soon, many of them will be able to live where they love to play!

Following the recent grand opening of the golf course at Escena Golf Club, the highly anticipated Nicklaus Design—created championship 18-hole Escena golf course has been booked to near capacity every day and has logged over 9,300 rounds of golf since its debut in early November 2005.

“The response has been phenomenal from day one,” said Jeff Sauvage, PGA Pro and club manager of Escena Golf Club. “Several golfers already have deemed this course their new favorite in the entire Coachella Valley, and a number of players are now taking advantage of the course’s 30-day booking window. We even had one out-of-town golfer play five times during his recent seven-day Palm Springs visit. He told us that he had scheduled play at several different courses during the week; but as soon as he played at Escena Golf Club, he didn’t want to play anywhere else.”

Sauvage attributes the golf course’s instant success to its classic design and spectacular setting that encompasses desert and mountain vistas. Sauvage added: “Already it’s apparent that Escena Golf Club is destined to be an integral part of the Escena Palm Springs lifestyle as well as the overall Palm Springs scene. Players just keep coming back, and that’s a sure sign that you’ve got a hit on your hands. Recently, Escena Golf Club hosted a local Desert Chapter Pro-Pro event that drew 48 professional golfers, all of whom praised the course’s design.”

Developed in partnership between Lennar Communities and Empire Companies and managed by Troon Golf, Escena Golf Club’s par 72, 172-acre golf course recreates a classic golf experience in a dramatic 7,173-yard layout. Clusters of towering Mexican fan palms, pepper trees and small native trees frame the fairways. Artistry on the links also includes multiple lakes and streams on nine of the 18 holes. While playing from the championship tees gives experienced golfers a 7,000-plus-yard test of their abilities, forward tees set at just over 6,000 yards make the course enjoyable for players at all skill levels.

“We can hardly wait to grand open Escena Golf Club’s modern-style clubhouse later this year,” added Sauvage. “Planned with a restaurant and dining room, a large terrace lounge, and a fully stocked golf shop, we expect the clubhouse to become the new ‘hot spot’ of Palm Springs.”

The Escena Golf Club is now open seven days a week and is the centerpiece of the gated Escena Palm Springs residential oasis. The new course is situated south of Vista Chino, just east of Gene Autry Trail with Ramon Road to the south (with access via Vista Chino). For tee times, call (760) 778-2737.

Distinguished as the first golf residential destination to debut within the City of Palm Springs in 20 years, Escena Palm Springs is envisioned to project an attitude and style unlike any other Southern California desert address. Marking the return to the glory days of desert architecture, arts and culture, Escena Palm Springs artistically captures the mystique of Palm Springs in its heyday, with a contemporary edge. Residences will be designed in the classic Spanish and mid-century modern architecture of historic Palm Springs. The cosmopolitan desert retreat is destined to provide future homeowners with a resort-caliber lifestyle within a serene golf course setting and in a spectacular location bordered by the majestic Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains.

The vibrant Escena Palm Springs will benefit from two distinctly different yet complementary series of homes. Inspired by the Spanish Revival Movement first seen in Palm Springs in the 1920s and 1930s, the Spanish Series planned for Escena Palm Springs will include homes designed with Spanish Colonial, Spanish Monterey and Spanish Hacienda architecture. By contrast, Escena Palm Springs’ Modern Series revisits the mid-century Contemporary, Modernistic and International styling that graces Palm Springs residences built between the 1940s and 1960s.

Lennar Homes will build Escena’s first four Modern Series enclaves, two of which are golf-oriented and two of which are courtyard-oriented. These four enclaves will include a diverse selection of detached homes.

The first two golf-oriented enclaves will include:

§ Circa, expected to offer homes with approximately 1,900 to 2,700 square feet of living space; and

§ Avant, expected to offer homes with approximately 2,300 to 2,800 square feet.

Lennar’s two courtyard-oriented enclaves will include:

§ Motif, planned to offer homes from approximately 2,400 to 2,600 square feet; and

§ Skylar, whose homes are planned with approximately 2,600 to 3,500 square feet.

Standard Pacific Homes will design and build the initial Spanish Series enclave at Escena known as Alcala, a golf-oriented enclave planned to offer spacious detached homes with approximately 3,600 to 3,800 square feet.

The homes of Escena will blend interior and exterior spaces into a tapestry of lifestyle elegance. Outdoor amenities such as sheltered courtyards, patios, and pools are anticipated. Additionally, careful execution of garden walls, articulation of entry gates and diversity of garage treatments are expected to further distinguish Escena’s unique street scene.

Escena Palm Springs plans to commence pre-sales for its first residential enclaves by Lennar Homes in mid-2006. To learn more about Escena Palm Springs and the Escena Golf experience, visit www.EscenaPalmSprings.com.
