OLA driver joins Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz designer golf club line

Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz has announced the launch of The OLA Driver, the newest addition to its critically acclaimed club line. Crafted by head designer Jesse Ortiz, the Optimum Launch Angle driver’s weighted head and increased loft angle accommodates golfers with slower swing speeds. The OLA also offers more height and softer landings. Ortiz, the craftsman behind the world-famous TriMetal™ line in 1998, recently designed and released award-winning Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz – the company’s flagship line – which was featured in Golf Digest’s 2006 Hot List.

Golf Digest’s Hot List appears in the magazine’s February 2006 edition and highly praises The Bobby Jones Players Series by Jesse Ortiz in several categories. The company’s drivers (including the OLA for the ‘Slow Swingers’ category), fairway woods and hybrid clubs all received heavy acclaim by the Golf Digest editorial staff. It is believed to be unprecedented for a startup club manufacturer to receive such accolades within its first year of existence.

The new 12-degree OLA Driver will complement Ortiz’ two original 9.5- and 10.75-degree loft drivers. All three drivers feature graphite composite crowns for maximum rear weighting, and two additional weighted screws – providing neutral or draw bias options. Russian BT-23 beta titanium faces are milled, heat treated and formed to maximize ball compression and minimize spin. The driver also features a patented ‘anti-slice’ head design specially contoured by Ortiz. Suggested retail price for the OLA Driver is $300.

“Jesse’s new OLA driver is the epitome of exceptional craftsmanship, and the design accommodates the needs of competitive and non-competitive golfers,” said Walter Rosenthal, CEO of The Bobby Jones Golf Company. “Just as Jesse’s drivers have been received extremely well by the golf community, we believe the OLA will be equally successful.”

Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz manufactures innovative, premium-quality metal woods, hybrids and drivers that appeal to professionals and amateurs alike. The company
has an exclusive, worldwide license agreement with the Bobby Jones family heirs (known as Jonesheirs) and the internationally renowned Hartmarx Corporation for the use of the Bobby Jones name for golf equipment and golf accessories, including items such as bags, balls, shoes, hats, gloves and other product lines. Under the agreement, the company also retains exclusive sublicensing rights with third parties for the aforementioned items, including clubs.

The Ortiz Design Studio™, based in Hayward, California, was founded by Jesse Ortiz in early 2004. During his 35-year tenure in the design business, he established a reputation for creating the finest handcrafted clubs on the market. Later he designed the TriMetal fairway metal line, one of the most lucrative and innovative golf clubs ever introduced.
