U. S. Ryder Cup Qualifications
The 2006 U.S. Ryder Cup Team is chosen on the basis of points compiled by The PGA of America, which players accumulated from Aug. 22, 2004 (WGC-NEC Invitational) through the 88th PGA Championship at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill., which concludes Aug. 20, 2006. Points are awarded for top-10 finishes at PGA Tour co-sponsored events as follows: 2004 Regular events: 75, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5; 2005 Regular events: 75, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5; 2005 Majors: 450, 225, 200, 175, 150, 125, 100, 75, 50, 25; 2006 Regular events: 375, 180, 160, 140, 120, 100, 80, 60, 40, 20; 2006 Majors: 675, 360, 320, 280, 240, 200, 160, 120, 80, 40. The top-10 finishers on the points list qualify for the 12-man team, and the U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman will select the two final players to complete the team.

European Ryder Cup Qualifications
The leading five players on The Ryder Cup World Points List (1) as of Sunday, 3 September, 2006 will qualify for The 2006 European Ryder Cup Team. In the event of a tie (equal number of points accumulated), placings will be decided by the player with the higher ranking on the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday 28th August, 2006. The leading five players, not otherwise qualified (having selected the five players from The Ryder Cup World Points List (A) above), from The Ryder Cup European Points List (2) as of Sunday, 3 September, 2006 will qualify for The 2006 European Ryder Cup Team. In the event of a tie (equal number of points accumulated), placings will be decided by the player with the higher ranking on the 2006 European Tour Order of Merit as of 3 September, 2006.

The Captain, Ian Woosnam, will choose the remaining two players for The 2006 European Ryder Cup Team.

(1) The Ryder Cup World Points List is comprised of World Ranking Points won by a European Tour Member from each tournament in which he participates between 1 September, 2005 and 3 September, 2006. For the final week of qualifying only, World Ranking Points will be awarded solely for the BMW International Open on The European Tour Schedule. World Ranking Points are allocated to all officially sanctioned tournaments (on any Federated Tour) by the Official World Golf Ranking and are allocated according to the Event Rating of the tournament.

(2) The Ryder Cup European Points List is comprised of points (1 point = 1 Euro) earned by a European Tour Member from all officially sanctioned European Tour events on the European Tour Order of Merit between 1 September, 2005 and 3 September, 2006.

The 36th Ryder Cup Matches will be held September 22-24, 2006, at The K Club in Straffan, Ireland
