Sports optics company Bushnell extends deal with Sergio Garcia

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Bushnell Outdoor Products, an innovator in the sports optics, outdoor accessories, and eyewear markets, announced today a two-year extension to the company’s sponsorship agreement with Sergio Garcia. The World’s sixth ranked golfer will exclusively wear Bollé eyewear and use Bushnell laser rangefinders. Financial details of the agreement where not released, but the extension runs through 2007.

“Sergio is a dynamic personality with global appeal,” said Phil Gyori, vice president of marketing. “With the USGA and R&A’s decision to legalize laser rangefinders, Sergio provides our company with a powerful, respected voice in the golf industry and a recognized spokesperson to promote the fact that our products are #1 on the PGA Tour.”

Bollé and Garcia make a perfect fit. Bollé produces and markets premium sports eyewear that are designed for a variety of challenging environments, whether it’s on the golf course, tennis courts or the ski slopes. Garcia will also promote Bushnell’s Laser Rangefinders, recently approved as a condition of play for tournament use and according to a recent Darrell Survey, the laser rangefinder of choice by 94% of PGA Tour pros.

The new Bushnell PinSeeker® laser rangefinder was specifically designed for golf and with its unique selective targeting mode, locating the flag has never been easier. The Bushnell PinSeeker can also provide distance to carry hazards, distance to the bend in a dogleg, or distance to a bunker with a simple shoot and click. The Bushnell PinSeeker does not require a locating reflector device to be installed on the flagstick and is ready to start obtaining useful, accurate distances to any object right out of the box.

Garcia will take part in marketing, advertising and promotional efforts on behalf of both Bollé and Bushnell. These efforts include global advertising campaigns and point of purchase, as well as personal appearances.

This season, Garcia earned his sixth career PGA Tour victory at the Booz Allen Classic and finished the season ranked sixth in the World Golf Rankings.
