PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2005) -- Brian Winge has been selected as
Head Golf Professional for the 18-hole championship golf course designed by
Nicklaus Design at Escena Golf Club in Palm Springs.
Escena Golf Club opened for public play on November 5, 2005. The golf club
is the centerpiece to Escena Palm Springs, the first golf course residential
desert retreat to be developed in the classic city of Palm Springs in 20 years.
"We are thrilled to have Brian be part of our team" said Jeff Sauvage, club
manager of Escena Golf Club. "Brian's background at upscale resorts within
the desert community will undoubtedly be an asset to golfers of all skill levels
who play the course at Escena Golf Club."
Winge will oversee a variety of golf operations for Escena Golf Club, including
golf instruction, golf shop management, golf operations, staff management,
and merchandising.
"It's very exciting to be part of the Escena Golf Club team, especially right
now," said Winge. "We have been given the rare opportunity to debut a
brand new championship golf course designed by Nicklaus Design in the heart
of Palm Springs and we couldn't ask for a better response so far. Escena Golf
Club has been consistently booked for public play since its grand opening on
Saturday, November 5, 2005."
Prior to his move to Escena Golf Club, Winge held prominent positions at the
Westin Mission Hills Resort Golf Course in Rancho Mirage and the Shoreline
Golf Course in Carter Lake, IA. Winge is a Troon Golf School Certified
Instructor and an Apprentice Member of the PGA of America.
Developed in partnership between Lennar Communities and The Empire
Companies, the par 72 course at Escena Golf Club reflects wide fairways that
accent its dramatic 7,173 yard layout. Framed by clusters of towering
Mexican fan palms, pepper trees and small native trees, the course rests on
172 acres and offers multiple lakes and streams on nine of its 18 holes.
Playing from the championship tees gives experienced golfers a 7,000-plus-
yard test of their abilities while forward tees set at just over 6,000 yards
make the course enjoyable for players at all skill levels. In addition to the
course, an adjacent mid-century modern-style clubhouse complete with a
restaurant and dining room, a large terrace lounge, men's and women's
lockers, and golf shop is projected to open in late 2006.
Escena Golf Club is now open seven days-a-week with green fees ranging
from $45 to $105, depending on the season. On-site course management is
provided by PGA Pro Jeff Sauvage through Scottsdale, AZ-based Troon Golf,
a leader in upscale golf course management.
"Escena Golf Club is destined to become a favorite course within the desert
golf community," said Sauvage. "I think people are ready for something new
and innovative. This course offers an outstanding golf experience in the west
end of the valley. From the clubhouse to the course itself, Escena Golf Club
is quickly becoming the golf destination within Palm Springs."
Sentineled by the rugged Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains, Escena
Palm Springs is envisioned as an eclectic desert residential retreat
encompassing a wide range of attached and detached residences designed in
the classic Spanish and mid-century modern architecture of historic Palm
Springs. Pre-sales are expected to begin in early 2006 for the first offering of
homes.
Escena Golf Club is bordered by Gene Autry Trail to the east, Vista Chino to
the north and Ramon Road to the south.
