23rd PGA Grand Slam garners 47 percent boost in TV ratings

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf was broadcast to 88.9 million U.S. homes, and viewed in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The 23rd PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which concluded Nov. 23, 2005, registered a 47 percent ratings growth, according to TNT Network, which broadcast the year-ending 36-hole event from Poipu Bay Golf Course and Grand Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa in Kauai, Hawaii.

The 2005 event, won by Tiger Woods for a sixth time, recorded a 0.8 U.S. rating in the final round compared to 0.6 rating in 2004, and delivered double-digit growth in key demographic areas.

The coverage also boasted a 47 percent increase in household delivery over a year ago (848,000 homes in 2005, compared to 575,000 in 2004); and scored a 92 percent increase in male audiences from age 18-49, and an 81 percent increase in males 25-54, and 78 percent for adults age 18-49.

The first round coverage, Nov. 22, 2005, recorded a 0.7 U.S. rating, and a household reach of 785,000, while the final round, Nov. 23, 2005, posted a 0.8 U.S. rating, and a household reach of 896,000.

TNT broadcast the 23rd PGA Grand Slam of Golf to 88.9 million U.S. homes. It was viewed in more than 100 countries worldwide.
