ITASCA, Ill. (Dec. 5, 2005) -- One of the greatest long drivers in golf, Sean Fister, has combined forces with the ultimate long-driving tee.
It's the company's first signing of an athlete to a professional endorsement. Fister will be a pivotal part of Zero Friction's marketing and public relations initiatives. His first contracted appearance for Zero Friction will be at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando in January where he will be available to sign autographs and interact with the media.
The signing unites two long-driving champions. Fister, of course, is famous for his long-driving prowess. Last month he won his third RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, in Mesquite, Nev., with a BOOMING blast of 377 yards, 3 ½ inches. At age 43 years and 4 months, he became the oldest person to win the title. Fister also won the event in 1995 and 2001, making him the only American to win three long drive titles. That gave him the record for longevity in the event, having won his third championship more than a decade after his first victory. Fister, a native of Little Rock, Ark., is a member of the Long Drivers of America Hall of Fame.
The Zero Friction Golf Tee is also a long driving icon. Golfers on the major professional men's tours have used its unique three-pronged teeing system to gain invaluable extra distance and win 12 tournaments since the product debuted in May. Nine of the victories have come on the PGA Tour and three on the Nationwide Tour. The Zero Friction Golf Tee is also the Official Golf Tee of the Long Drivers of America Association and the Exclusive Golf Tee of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
