Oct. 20, 2004 – For the second consecutive month and seventh time in his career, Vijay Singh has been named the PGA Tour Player of the Month, tour officials have announced. Amazingly, Singh won all three events in which he played in the month.
Singh opened by winning the Deutsche Bank Championship and its $900,000 first prize by posting scores of 68-63-68-69 for a 16-under 268 total. He followed that up by winning $810,000 at the Bell Canadian Open with winning scores of 68-66-72-69 for a 9-under 275 composite. And he finished up his month by winning $756,000 at the 84 Lumber Classic with rounds of 64-68-72-69 for a 15-under 273 total.
Singh is the first two-time Player of the Month in 2004, also having won the honor in August. Other winners this year include Jonathan Kaye (January), John Daly (February), Adam Scott (March), Phil Mickelson (April), Steve Flesch (May), Retief Goosen (June) and Todd Hamilton (July).
