JOPPA, Md. (Nov. 28, 2005) -- It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Mountain Branch Golf Course and Grille & Pub. Beginning Dec. 1, the sights, sounds and tastes of the yuletide season will permeate the property.
A dreamy winter wonderland, the must-see property will be ablaze with exterior holiday lighting, a 20 foot live lit Blue Spruce tree and the pavilion and clubhouse will be sparkling with holiday décor reminiscent of childhood’s past.
Every child and adult hoping to slip some insider gift information to the big guy himself, can eat breakfast with Santa on Sat., Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to Noon. A light breakfast buffet will be served, with arts and crafts, face painting and of course a photo opportunity with Santa – so bring your camera! The cost is $9 for all ages. On Christmas Eve, the Grille & Pub will offer a limited menu from Noon to 3 p.m. in the pub only. Christmas Eve dinner reservations are being accepted with seating beginning at 4 p.m. and the last seating at 8 p.m. A spectacular holiday buffet will be presented which includes favorites such as cream of crab soup, carving stations and other traditional favorites. The buffet is $25.95 for adults and $9.95 for children ages 3 to 10. Reservations can be made by calling 410.836.9600 ext. 3.
New Year’s Eve, the Grille & Pub will be serving lunch to 3 p.m. Dinner reservations are being accepted for all size parties by calling 410.836.9600 ext. 3. A special a la carte menu has been created for this event. Beginning at 9 p.m., a DJ and dancing will begin in the pub with a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.

MOUNTAIN BRANCH, A RETREAT FOR WELL-READ KIDS
JOPPA, Md. (Nov. 28, 2005) -- Mountain Branch is encouraging kids to read and has started a reading incentive program with Abingdon Elementary School. First through fifth graders are challenged to read 300 minutes per month. If they accomplish their goal, they are rewarded with a packet of coupons that can be redeemed at Mountain Branch’s Grille & Pub and other area restaurants.
Tom Brettschneider, director of food and beverage at Mountain Branch, started the program with Abingdon Elementary where his son attends the 3rd grade. The Mountain Branch coupon, which doubles as a bookmark, offers hungry readers a free item from the Junior Golfer menu. The program ultimately teaches the love of reading and the joys of a good book. Approximately 700 to 800 kids earn the reward each month.
“Mountain Branch is a community partner and we are currently talking to other area schools to encourage their participation in the program as well,” said Bresttschneider. “We plan on continuing the reading program at Mountain Branch through May,” he added.
