Graphite Design International introduces YS Type II series

Building on the success of its popular YS graphite shaft series - which includes the YS-6, the most played driver shaft model on the PGA Tour for two years and running - Graphite Design International (GDI) today announces the availability of its value-priced YS Type II graphite shaft series.

Combining an innovative mix of advanced, ultra-high modulus materials with the company's exacting manufacturing process, the YS Type II Series mimics the bend profiles and performance benefits of the tour proven YS line, but at a value price.

Similar to the YS, the YS Type II Series consists of three driver shafts, a hybrid club shaft and an iron shaft - all with finely tuned weights, flexes, kick points, torques and tip sections to maximize performance from the widest range of swing types.

The YS Type II shafts have a striking sky blue and silver color scheme complete with a wrap-around band reinforcing the company's Accuracy & Distance mantra. The color complements all clubheads produced by major Original Equipment Manufacturers ("OEMs"), making re-shafting a seamless, visually appealing process.

The YS Type II series is part of GDI's recently introduced Tour AD family of shafts, which has quickly assumed a position as the company's flagship line and serves as the umbrella brand for GDI's YS+ and YS Power series, as well as its GAT and Purple Ice models.

"We are excited to add the YS Type II Series to our growing family of high-performance graphite shafts," said Akio Karashima, CEO of GDI. "Because of their value price point, even more golfers will be able to experience our shafts' tour-proven technology and game-enhancing features at their favorite golf course."

GDI shafts have now been used by 18 winners on the PGA TOUR in 2005 and 40 winners worldwide, helping them amass more than $75 million in earnings, year-to-date. GDI's record-setting year thus far builds upon the company's success in 2004 - a banner year in which PGA TOUR players earned more than $60 million using GDI shafts.
