The number of golf courses that have signed up with The R&A Course Management Best Practice Web site has topped the 1,500 mark. In addition to strong support from the United Kingdom, there has also been an enthusiastic response from courses in Australia, Denmark, France, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
The R&A says clubs from 92 countries are now following best practice procedures recommended by the site that are aimed at optimizing the playing quality of the golf course in harmony with the conservation of its natural environment under economically sound and socially responsible management.
This forms the focus for the website and its development, producing benchmarks and case studies to demonstrate aspects of best practice and sustainable management.
A total of 221 registered clubs are completing checklists to monitor their progress.
The site is available in English, French, German and Italian. A Spanish version is nearing completion. Visit https://www.bestcourseforgolf.org.
