AUSTIN, Texas -- The Hill Country Dining Room at Barton Creek Resort & Spa, Texas’ premier resort, has earned the AAA Four Diamond rating placing it among a coveted circle of Four Diamond restaurants throughout the nation.
“This is an exciting recognition that comes on the heels of receiving our 10th AAA Four Diamond rating for the entire Resort,” said G. Michael Thomas, president and COO of Barton Creek Resort & Spa. “We are proud that our Hill Country Dining Room is now among a select group of restaurants nationwide that are recognized for their extraordinary cuisine, impressive atmosphere and stellar service.”
Executive Chef Phil Bouza, who has been with Barton Creek Resort & Spa for 18 years, leads the Hill Country Dining Room. Bouza creates classic fare with a contemporary flair. His menus reflect a fusion of many cuisines including Cajun, Southwestern, Mexican and Asian. Known for its expansive breakfast buffet and popular specialties including Southwestern favorites like tortilla soup, quesadillas, and tequila shrimp, the Hill Country Dining Room welcomes resort guests and Austin residents with breathtaking views of the award-winning Fazio Foothills Golf Course. Chef Bouza rotates the menu based on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and maintains some of the restaurant’s most popular favorites including toasted curry lobster soup, pan seared pheasant breast and sesame seared tuna. The restaurant’s award-winning wine cellar provides the perfect complement for any occasion.
Only 59 hotels and 29 restaurants in Texas were chosen to receive the AAA Four Diamond Award, a most coveted honor in the hospitality industry. The Four Diamond symbol will be included in Barton Creek Resort & Spa’s listing in the 2006 AAA Texas TourBook guide, which is sent to the organization’s nearly 46 million members.
Each year, more than 60 full time AAA raters visit nearly 70,000 lodgings, restaurants, and attractions. The visits are unannounced, and the evaluation results in a rating of one to five diamonds. A one diamond establishment is functional and modest; two diamond offers enhancements in décor and quality; three diamond possesses a degree of sophistication and service; and four diamond displays a high level of service and hospitality and many upscale amenities. Only 3.3 percent of hotels and 3.1 percent of restaurants receive a Four Diamond designation. The five diamond status is reserved for an elite number of establishments.
