Kerr's charity will honor Pressel at ADT Championship

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Birdies for Breast Cancer, a not-for-profit organization founded by LPGA Tour star Cristie Kerr and Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, will make a special recognition presentation to Morgan Pressel, America's top female junior and amateur golfer, on Thursday at the ADT Championship at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Pressel will receive Birdies for Breast Cancer's annual CoURagE Award, which goes to an individual affected by breast cancer who has conquered obstacles to achieve greatness. Pressel's mother, Kathryn, watched her daughter's breakout performance at the 2001 U.S. Women's Open but passed away from breast cancer two years later. Pressel found strength in her mother's spirit, winning the 2005 U.S. Women's Amateur and all five legs of the Career AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Slam.

Florida Hospital Cancer Institute will dedicate a breast cancer research fund in Pressel's mother's name, Kathryn Krickstein Pressel. Birdies for Breast Cancer will make the first donation to that fund out of proceeds from the third annual UpLink Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Golf Classic, a golf charity event hosted by Kerr in December.
