PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The 2006 Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series will celebrate its 11th consecutive year of providing affordable and competitive golf for juniors ages 13-18, featuring five new sites in a 10-state summer coast-to-coast schedule.
The entry application is available online at www.PGA.com/juniors.
The PGA Junior Series, marking its fourth year with title sponsor Callaway Golf, opens May 30-June 1 at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky., and concludes July 31-Aug. 2 at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield, Ohio.
Next summer's schedule features 10 events, including six 54-hole (three-day) and four 36-hole (two-day) competitions, plus the 72-hole Westfield Junior PGA Championship, Aug. 10-13 at Westfield Center, Ohio, and the Junior Ryder Cup, Sept. 18-19 at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.
The Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series, nationally recognized in the GolfWeek Sagarin points system and Junior Golf Scoreboard, debuted in summer 1996. The program has attracted boys and girls representing 50 states, 18 countries, and six continents, along with players from Bermuda, Guam, The Mariana and Marshall Islands, and the District of Columbia.
"The Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series is a premier competitive program that brings together many of the best boy and girl players throughout the country," said The PGA of America's President, Roger Warren. "We welcome back Callaway Golf as title sponsor, as it joins us in sharing a tradition of excellence in junior golf. Additionally, the support and hospitality of our PGA Sections makes for an atmosphere rivaling that of a major Championship. We also have been fortunate to connect event sites to The PGA's Professional Golf Management programs promoting our Career Awareness initiatives."
Each Series event will feature a field of approximately 156 players. Juniors may enter as often as they wish. Each event will consist of boys' and girls' divisions, with approximately one half of the field from competitors residing within the host section. One boy and one girl winner of all 10 events will receive an exemption into the Westfield Junior PGA Championship, and all 10 events will be included in the Junior Ryder Cup points system for the Junior Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor Resort.
