Siddharth Seth sizzles to lead junior golf

NEW DELHI, – Oct. 18, 2004 – Siddharth Seth played an impressive round of one-under 65, to lead the field at the end of the first day’s play of the inaugural Unitech Junior Golf Open being played at the Par- 66 Unitech Karma Lake Lands Golf Course in Gurgaon, near New Delhi. The two-day event, which is being played under the aegis of the Delhi Golf Society, saw 112 participants competing for the crown of ‘Delhi-NCR champion’.

While Siddharth led the field as well as his group - Category ‘B’, Cat A witnessed Nasir Ali at the top with a creditable two-over 68 performance. Kapil Kumar courtesy a 10-over 66 was sitting atop Cat C. Meanwhile Viraat Bhadwar finished with the best round in Category ‘D’ with a card of one-over 34. The participants in this category (10 years and below) competed over 9 holes today and would be doing the same tomorrow. In the Girls category, Vaishavi Sinha with help of her impeccable short game put up the best performance with a score of two-over 68.

Siddharth’s sizzling performance of one-under, the only under-par round of the day comprised three birdies that came on the 12th, 13th and 17th holes offset by bogeys recorded on the first and fifth holes.

The Junior tournament saw some fine performance by players in all four categories who came from as far away as Kolkata, Chandigarh and Jaipur to participate. As an added incentive there are handicap prizes as well.

Category B (13-14 years): 65 Siddharth Seth; 69 Rudresh Sharma
Category C (11-12 years): 76 Kapil Kumar ; 81 Aditya V Suneja
GIRLS: 68 Vaishavi Sinha; 70 Mani Chander
