Village Golf Club hosts fundraiser for Texas Veterans Museum

PANORAMA VILLAGE, Texas -- The Village Golf Club – a Billy Casper Golf-managed facility –announced it will host a Veteran’s Day golf tournament on Friday, November 11 with proceeds from the event to benefit The Veterans Museum in Texas.

An 18-hole scramble format tournament with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, the entry fee is $250 per player and includes greens fees, cart rental, an expanded pre-round continental breakfast, post-round luncheon and award presentation, tournament prizes and on-course competitions such as Hole-in-One and putting contests.

Participants will also receive a Nike Golf gift package that includes a dozen Nike ONE golf balls, Tech-Extreme golf duffle bag, Swoosh cap, golf glove, Windshirt and a Nike Dri-Fit polo shirt, a total value of more than $250.

“We owe a great deal to our veterans, and this tournament is a small way for The Village Golf Club to say ‘thank you’ for their service and sacrifice,” said General Manager Aaron Czajka. “The Veterans Museum in Texas is a wonderful initiative and The Village is very pleased to be giving back to the community in this way.”

Fundraising has begun in earnest for construction of The Veterans Museum in Texas on donated land in south Houston. A national institution, the museum will be dedicated to the service of all American veterans from the Revolutionary War to the present. The museum will join other prominent museums in the region such as such as the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans.

“Recognition for the Museum is becoming very widespread in the Houston metro area for which we are extremely grateful and we appreciate what The Village Golf Club is doing, as well,” said Tom Cottar, an Advisory Director for The Veterans Museum in Texas.
Owned by the City of Panorama Village and managed by Billy Casper Golf (“BCG”), The Village Golf Club was formerly a private golf facility that has been transformed into an upscale, public golf course now serving the entire community.

In addition to the tournament supporting the museum, The Village is also holding an upcoming tournament and “helicopter ball drop” contest to support hurricane relief. It was originally scheduled for September to respond to Katrina, but Hurricane Rita required organizers to postpone until November 18.

About The Village Golf Club
The Village Golf Club – formerly Panorama County Club – is a 27-hole facility with three distinctly different nine-hole layouts available for play in three 18-hole combinations options. BCG, the nation’s fifth-largest golf course management firm, was selected to oversee course operations in March.

The firm has been working on a number of facility enhancements including rebuilding and re-grassing several greens, remodeling the lounge and customer facilities, and the overall beautification of the entire club. Additionally, the newly remodeled banquet facility features a scenic overlook of the 18th fairway and seats 350 guests. The hall brings the local community an affordable first class venue to host corporate functions, weddings, and other events.
The Winged Foot Course, with its narrow fairways and mid-size greens, is the longest of the three at 3,443 yards and features the most elevation change. All nine of the Winged Foot Course’s greens have been remodeled and sport the revolutionary “MiniVerde” turfgrass for tremendous conditions on and around the putting surfaces.

The Rolling Hills Course – sporting larger fairways and fast, small greens -- is the most scenic of the three, with shimmering lakes coming into play on several holes on its 3,336-yard layout. The Thunderbird Course presents golfers with narrow fairways and a set of par 5s that are reachable in two for the average player.
