ORLANDO (June 25, 2004) While hitting the links with pros is certainly available through pro ams, opportunities for recreational golfers to compete – not just play -- against these touring pros in true tournament style competition are few and far between, if at all. To fill this void, a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete head to head and match skills with current PGA touring pros has been created with the Inspired Golf Fantasy Golf Experience.
PGA touring pros Corey Pavin (1995 U.S. Open winner), John Cook (14 time PGA Tour champion), Tom Pernice, Jr. (two time PGA Tour Champion) and Tim Petrovic (2004 Masters Competitor), as well as fourteen others, all currently playing on the tour, will be convening at Celebration Golf Club in Orlando this October to match skills and compete against recreational golfers. To even the playing field, Fantasy Golf Experience guests will play with a handicap. Rick Provost, event creator and a trainer/conditioning coach on the PGA tour as well as one of the owners of Inspired Golf, feels this unique element offers an experience like no other.
“There are opportunities with pro-ams to play with touring pros, but none that we know of that are true amateur/pro competitions. We feel this is an exciting concept that will allow amateur golfers a unique shot at matching skills with some of the best in the world,” said Provost.
Each guest will be placed in a foursome, one of whom will be a current PGA touring pro, and will compete for two days of golf. A practice round for a third day of golf, as well as a conditioning session with Provost where guests will learn the same training techniques that Provost uses with the pros, will provide pre-tournament warm up.
While attendees may not be playing under the same stressful conditions as a pro competing for his livelihood, the event opens up the opportunity for direct and real communication with the pros to hear their personal stories from the tour. The camaraderie with the pros lends itself to opportunities to ask questions and receive tips and advice, another one of the Experience’s novel elements. Provost feels this player interaction and ability to learn from them is as important as the incredible golf.
“These pros have so much to offer, but so little time to interact with their fans and really impart some of their well-earned wisdom,” said Provost. “We’re hoping this event allows loyal fans not only a chance to experience the tour, but to gather this first-hand knowledge and wisdom, and become more inspired in their golf game.”
The Inspired Golf Fantasy Golf Experience will be held from Saturday, Oct. 23 through Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 at Celebration Golf Club and Hotel, just south of Orlando. The experience includes luxury accommodations and meals, three days of golf -- a practice round and two days of tournament style play with eighteen PGA touring pros, and a conditioning session, where attendees will learn flexibility and strength workouts used by the pros. A banquet with the pros, photos and a video of documenting some of the tournament play with a pro nightly in-room gifts and tournament prizes round out the fantasy golf experience.
The cost to participate is $10,000 per player, not including airfare. Group discounts and VIP packages are available. The event is limited to 54 players. To make reservations or inquire about group rates, please contact Rick Provost, toll free at 877-870-TOUR (8687) or visit www.inspiredgolf.com.
