RICHMOND, R.I. -- The Mashantucket Pequots have closed Foxwoods Golf and Country Club in Richmond, R.I.
The Native American tribe reportedly might to sell the 175-acre property and is refunding some of members' fees. The Tribe, which owns Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Conn., bought interest in the course in 1997 and took it over in 2000.
The tribe now says the Foxwoods course can't compete with other courses in the Connecticut/Rhode Island area, including its two new Lake of Isles golf courses across from the massive resort and casino.
