AVONDALE, Penn. -- Michael S. McGillicuddy has joined Forewinds Hospitality as operations manager.
Forewinds Hospitality specializes in the acquisition, revitalization and management of premier private and public golf clubs, daily-fee golf courses, restaurants, hotels and resorts - employing innovative hospitality strategies to build premium hospitality destination brands.
As operations manager, McGillicuddy will be responsible for overseeing the transition of ownership for Forewinds’ golf club acquisitions. These responsibilities include securing and developing transition teams, development and improvement of existing and new management teams, and ensuring continuity of services for all golf club operations.
With more than 14 years of proven golf industry experience in the areas of operations management and business development for both start-up and existing golf clubs throughout the United States, McGillicuddy brings a unique combination of skills in golf club openings as well as operational turnarounds.
“When a golf club is purchased there are countless items to consider. Transition of operations from one owner to another is multi-dimensional and can be very complicated,” stated Ron Winarick, managing director of Forewinds Hospitality. “Mike brings a rare and valuable combination perspective for both daily operations as well as bigger picture issues that must be simultaneously addressed to provide seamless operations before, during and after the transition process,” added Winarick.
Prior to joining Forewinds Hospitality, McGillicuddy served as general manager and director of golf for eight golf clubs around the country comprising both semi-private and daily fee clubs. His portfolio includes Maryland National Golf Club, Middletown, Md; The Tournament Players Club at Heron Bay, Coral Springs, Fla.; The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge, Monroe, N.Y.; The Woodlands Golf Course, Wayne, Mich.; Reston National Golf Course, Reston Va.; and Deerfield Country Club, Rochester, NY.
His breadth of experience ranges from complete oversight surrounding development and openings of new golf clubs to daily operations including recruitment, training, food and beverage, maintenance, pro shop, sales and marketing.
McGillicuddy earned a bachelor of science in finance and investments from Babson College, Wellsely, Mass., where he graduated Cum Laude. He is a PGA Class A-9 member in good standing and is a member of the Club Managers Association of America.
The Forewinds portfolio includes Hartefeld National Golf Club, an exclusive private course in Avondale, Pa., Mountain Branch Golf Course, a public daily-fee course and restaurant destination in Joppa, Md., and soon Sterling Country Club in Sterling, Mass.
