Today was all Korea, all the time.
To be filed under the category of Not Surprising, Koreans are dominating the leaderboard at the LPGA’s Office Depot Championship in LA. Weather delays have held up the final round, but at the moment, Jeong Jang and Hee-Won Han are tied for the top spot, at 9 under, and Seoul Sisters Young Jo and Soo-Yun Kang are one stroke behind.
Meanwhile, K.J. Choi, not to be outdone, stepped up and decided to show us that South Korea isn’t just about the ladies. He picked up his third PGA win today at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, his first since 2002.
A win here would bring Jeong Jang up to two victories this year, her other win being the Women’s British Open. Will Chris Baldwin start spouting off about how Jeong Jang is better than Paula Creamer now, will always be better than Paula Creamer? No wait, Kiel Christianson already did.
Speaking of Koreans, keep your eye out for a big announcement from Michelle Wie on Wednesday, 8 am Hawaii time, “regarding her future.” I wonder what that’s all about. Let. me. think.
I’m heading out to Korea next month, to see old friends and old places and perhaps uncover the mysteries of South Korean golf. And maybe just to get a drink of that water.
