FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- After months of renovations, the Fort Lauderdale Country Club is nearing the completion of the first phase of a three-phase beautification project to its property. Upon completion of this project, area residents will be offered a contemporary clubhouse and newly manicured greens to facilitate playability and attract golfers of all levels.
Phase 1, which began in May and will end in November in time for South Florida’s busy winter season, has undergone a complete renovation of the practice facilities and South Course. State of the art updates have been made, including the use of Tiffeagle grass on the greens and putting green and adding Paspalum, a new breed of grass, to the range tee and the range fairway. These grasses improve the golf game by adding speed, consistency and overall playability. The new grass reacts well to all weather conditions and is disease resistant.
To coincide with the completion of Phase I, the Fort Lauderdale Country Club has decided to offer a special seasonal membership program to attract winter residents to the club. For a fraction of the cost, seasonal members are invited to join FLCC for six months and enjoy amenities normally offered only to year round members. In addition to enjoying the club’s two 18-hole golf courses and award winning cuisine, seasonal members can serve on committees, participate in the seasonal golf cart program and add significant others to their membership.
As downtown Fort Lauderdale experiences its own renaissance, the Fort Lauderdale Country Club recognizes its need to change alongside that growth. “Our courses were already in terrific condition, but we chose to make this investment to offer our membership an even better place to play golf. These improvements will increase the caliber of golf at FLCC,” said general manager Michael O’Brien. “We’re excited for the completion of this project.”
In the spring of 2006, subsequent planned work (Phase II) will begin on the clubhouse. Refurbishment includes expanding the outdoor dining areas and making general enhancements to the main dining room. In the third and final phase of renovations, FLCC’s North Course will undergo major upgrades to the bunkers, tees and greens.
Established in 1926, the Fort Lauderdale Country Club is a private equity club located in the heart of Broward County that is one of the only private clubs to feature two championship 18-hole golf courses. Superior drainage, course variety and friendly members are among the club's outstanding features. Membership categories range from Social to Equity memberships and an Executive Program is designed for adults 40 years of age and younger.
