Gamez opened the final round with three straight birdies and added three more on the back nine to reach 18-under 262 at LaCantera Golf Club's Resort Course. Pro V1x players Mark Wilson and Woody Austin tied for third as 10 of the top 12 finishers relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.
In addition to the Pro V1x golf ball, Gamez relied upon the new Titleist Pro Titanium 905S driver (8.5), Titleist Forged prototype irons (3-P), 503.H utility iron (1), Vokey Design sand (54) and lob (60) wedges, and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist Circa 62 mid-length prototype putter. Trusting his Titleist equipment, Gamez finished among the top 10 in five major statistical categories including: Putts (109/T3), Putting Average (1.673/5th), Driving Distance (317.5/ 5th), Greens In Regulation (55 of 72/.764/T6) and Driving Accuracy (41 of 56/.732)/T8).
Titleist topped the golf ball count with 99 players, more than five times the nearest competitor with 19. Gamez' victory marks the 22nd for Titleist players on the 2005 PGA Tour, compared to 8 for the nearest competitor.
