SAN DIEGO -- The 1st Annual Fall Southern California Celebrity Fundraising Golf Tournament and Sports Memorabilia Silent Auction will be at the Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino, San Diego, CA. It is sponsored by Can-Am Golf and Sightseeing Tours Inc., of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and is open to golfers from Canada and the United States. Dates are Sunday November 27 to Saturday, December 3, 2005. The Golf Tournament is on Thursday December 1, 2005.
The participants will choose which charity they want their portion of the proceeds to go. The charity will then issue a receipt in their name. There will be a draw (Trip to Las Vegas) for all participants who make full payment by September 30, 2005. The Prize Pool will total $10,000 (US) in prizes, The Low Gross will have first pick of the prizes, Low Net second pick, plus they both get a free trip to the Spring Southern California Celebrity Fundraising Golf Tournament which will be held in March 2006.
All entrants will play with a celebrity. Some of the expected celebrities; Ron Cey - One of the most popular LA Dodgers of all-time, Micky Dolenz - one of original "Monkees", Richard Karn - For 8 years he played "Al Borland" on "Home Improvement", Hal Linden - He played the role of "Barney Miller" in the TV series, Leann Hunley - Series' include "Dawson's Creek, Dynasty and Days of Our Lives", Sugar Ray Leonard won the Boxing World Title in the Middleweight division, Don Most - He is well known for the role of "Ralph Malph" on the popular television series HAPPY DAYS, Ann Meyers-Drysdale - She is recognized as one of the greatest all-around female athletes in the world in the past 15 years. She was the first four-time Kodak All-American Basketball Player, male or female).
For the participants on the Tournament day, there will be closest to the pin for prizes, putting contest, longest drive contest and Hole-in-One Contest. For the non-golfer there is a sightseeing package of the San Diego Area available. There will be 2 practice rounds and 1 tournament round played at the Championship Barona Creek Golf Course, which has received recognition from; Golfweek A top 5 daily-fee course in California, A top 100 “Modern Course” in America, Golf Magazine A top 10 “New course in America” 2002, Travel & Leisure Golf A top 20 course for under $100, Audubon International Bronze Signature Sanctuary Certification.
The night before the tournament there is a reception with the Celebrities being hosted by Can-Am Golf and Sightseeing Tours and Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino. Accommodations will be at the Luxurious Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino (www.barona.com) located 35 minutes from San Diego. Participants will depart from the Detroit Metro Airport to Lindberg Field, San Diego Airport.
