Tickets for '05 Presidents Cup on sale

LAKE MANASSAS, Va. – Oct. 15, 2004 – Tournament officials have announced that tickets for the 2005 Presidents Cup are now available as the biennial international team match-play competition returns to the United States for the fourth time. The event is scheduled for September 19-25, 2005 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club on Lake Manassas in Prince William County, Va.

The 2005 Presidents Cup will allow Captains Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player to settle unfinished business. They were the Captains presiding over last year's scintillating event at the Gary Player-designed Links Course at Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estate in George, South Africa. That competition was declared a tie after both teams finished regulation with 17 points apiece, and the sudden-death playoff between the International Team's Ernie Els and Tiger Woods of the United States could not determine a winner before darkness descended after three holes.

In a show of sportsmanship, both teams decided that the competition would be declared a tie and that the teams would share the cup. "The 2003 Presidents Cup was a true showing of sportsmanship and integrity," said George Burger, general chairman of the 2005 Presidents Cup. "We are looking forward to seeing both teams continue their quest to win The Presidents Cup when the competition returns to the United States next year.

"Robert Trent Jones Golf Club has proven to be a great test of golf in the three occasions it has played host to the event and we expect it to again be the perfect venue. We think fans will be very excited about the various ticket options that are being offered."

Tickets, which are limited to enhance the viewing experience for spectators, may be purchased by visiting www.presidentscup.com or by calling 1-877-PREZ-TIX (773-9849). There will be a limit of 20,000 spectators per day to provide the best viewing experience, and with more daily tickets available than in the past, it is expected that the event will sell out quickly.

A Weekly Championship Club Ticket is $250 and provides one ticket to the tournament for each day, Tuesday through Sunday, as well as access to a first-class pavilion. Amenities of the Championship Club include choice of menu for purchase, premium cash bar, televisions, scoring terminals and open seating. The only way to gain access to the Championship Club is to buy a week-long ticket. Daily Tickets are also available for grounds access only.
