Three-way contest for UAE Order of Merit title

DUBAI – Oct. 14, 2004 – Three of the pre-season favorites for the UAE Nationals Order of Merit Ismail Sharif, last year’s runner-up, Khalid Yousuf, and Abdullah Al Thani, 2002-03 champion, sit at the top of the table after one fixture at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

The UAE Nationals Order of Merit runs over 7 Nike-sponsored UAE National Medals and the Lexus-sponsored UAE National Championship in March. Points are awarded for gross placings with the best-placed gross score receiving 10 points, second 9 points down to 2 points for 9th. The field also receives 1 point for submitting their scorecard and 1 additional point for participating.

Three leaders share a total of 11 points and a 2 point lead over Khalfan Al Kaabi of Abu Dhabi Golf Club by Sheraton who is in fourth spot. The 2003/4 Order of Merit Champion Mohammed bin Huwaiden did not play the opening fixture.

The next qualifying round is at Emirates Golf Club (Majlis) on December 30.
