HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Palmetto Dunes Resort is conducting a Hole-in-One Challenge at the Robert Trent Jones Course to provide relief for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The event began Monday and will continue through Friday.
The public is invited to participate by donating $10 before playing the 150-yard, par-3 fifth hole. By donating, participants will receive a 20-percent discount on non-sale merchandise in the Jones Pro Shop or a 10-percent discount on hard goods, a sleeve of two golf balls and another sleeve of balls if they hit the green off the tee.
They will also be entered in a drawing to receive the rounds of golf and a three-night stay at a local hotel. Anyone who makes a hole-in-one on the 5th hole will win two complete Nike sets -- irons, woods, putter and bag.
All donations will go directly to the Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
"After watching the devastation on TV, we wanted to find a way to help," Brad Marra, coordinator of the Hole-in-One Challenge and general manager at the Jones Course, said in a press release. "This was the quickest way give something back. We're hoping to raise at least $3,000-$5,000."
