John Daly: A funny, loveable buffoon (whose PGA Tour career is over)

Talking about having to play two rounds in one day - as he had to do at the Deutsche Bank Championship because of rain delays - John Daly told BBC Sport, "I will just put four or five extra packs of cigarettes in my bag, and I will be fine."

You gotta love him. Well, I guess. But that doesn't change the fact that he's something of a moron and a chronic underacheiver. How this guy got in the multi-majors-win club is beyond me. He's got a boatload of talent and cojones for miles. But it takes more than that. Years from now, as he's dragging his oxygen tank around the track on the Old Farts Tour three or four times a year, we'll all still be chuckling along at his quips and soundbytes. And his career win total will look an awful lot like it does right now. Smoke up, Johnny.
