ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The World Golf Hall of Fame will provide the featured golf exhibit at the L.A. County Fair's feature attraction SportsFest!-The American Sports Adventure. The L.A. County Fair, the largest county fair in the nation, is Sept. 9-Oct. 2.
The exhibit will give visitors the opportunity to learn about the World Golf Hall of Fame, its members and their ties to West Coast tournaments that play an important role in the game of golf.
Artifacts on display will include Hall of Fame member Tom Kite's 1993 Los Angeles Open trophy and replica Hall of Fame bronze relief plaques of Kite and fellow 2004 Inductee Charlie Sifford. Sifford won the Los Angeles Open in 1969.
A Kraft Nabisco Championship trophy from the museum's Trophy Tower will be part of the exhibit, representing the Hall of Fame members who have won the tournament, including 2005 Inductee Karrie Webb, who won in 2000.
"When the organizers of the L.A. County Fair approached us with the opportunity to participate as the featured golf exhibit, we jumped at the chance," said Jack Peter, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Hall of Fame. "Our exhibit at the L.A. County Fair SportsFest provides us a terrific opportunity to share the stories of some of our West Coast members and to extend our presence to Los Angeles, giving guests of the fair a glimpse into what the Hall of Fame is about."
The World Golf Hall of Fame's exhibit will feature additional information and memorabilia—including pin flags, programs and posters—from the Nissan Open, Kraft Nabisco Championship and the Wal-Mart First Tee Open.
