HAMMOND, Ind. --Nebraska-based Cabela's, a national outdoor and sporting goods retailer, says it will purchase the Woodmar Country Club in Hammond for $14 million and use the property for one of its largest stores.
Cabela's had originally offered up to $10 million for the property but club members held out for more. Members voted to accept the deal last night.
Cabela's, which expects to open the store in the next 18 months, says it plans to employ 400 workers and inject $7 million into the local economy annually.
