BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Alabama Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) formally announced that LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: LFG) has agreed to host the 2005 NAIOP Golf Classic as key sponsor.

"We are excited about the event and find it very rewarding to support such an organization focused not only on the successful growth of the commercial real estate industry, but one that is especially attentive to the community in which it serves," said Andy Benefield, an Atlanta executive with the company's Commercial Services division that covers the Birmingham market. "Not only are we supporting a great industry association, we are backing an organization that is solely dedicated to cultivating Birmingham as a hub for business."

The NAIOP Golf Classic is held annually and benefits the Birmingham Metropolitan Development Board (MDB), a private non-profit organization established to promote the city as a low-cost, high-return location for business. Teaming up with LandAmerica's Commercial Services office in Atlanta is the company's Birmingham-based Agency Operations branch, better known as LandAmerica Lawyers Title and LandAmerica Commonwealth.

When asked about hosting the golf tournament, Mike Riddle, Vice President and Birmingham Area Manager said, "We share in Andy's excitement for the event and believe the Ross Bridge Resort, being one of the most prominent Birmingham real estate developments of the year, forms a perfect setting." Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa announced its opening earlier this month. It is the first property of its kind in Birmingham and is certain to lure guests to its prestigious setting, luxurious accommodations, and challenging golf course -- the third longest in the world.

The 2005 NAIOP Golf Classic is being held October 26. NAIOP is a national real estate association with over 50 chapters that represent the interests of developers and owners of industrial, office, and related commercial real estate throughout North America.
