Driving 4 Life to celebrate $2 million milestone at its invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The day long event will mark the $2 million raised for ALS research and celebrate the lives and legacy of campaign founders Jeff Julian and Bruce Edwards. These two remarkable men used their celebrity to raise funds for critical research into a cure for the disease which claimed both of their lives last year; ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

The second annual Driving 4 Life invitational (http://www.driving4life.org/invitational) will be held September 12 at the recently rated top 50 golf course. A number of corporations join presenting sponsor Celgene (http://www.celgene.com) and Driving 4 Life in their efforts to make the Second Annual Driving 4 Life Invitational a resounding success.

Other sponsors include Philips Lighting, Callaway Golf, among others. Joining the field for the day are a number of special guests including, Court TV anchorman Jack Ford, ESPN sports personality John Buccigross, and best-selling author and sports columnist Carl Vigeland, just to name a few.

Players and guests will be treated to a special tribute to Jeff and Bruce during a cocktail reception followed by a dinner and awards ceremony where the 2005 "Driving 4 Life Awards" will be distributed. Recipients include Acting Governor Richard A. Codey, PGA TOUR professional Luke Donald, and ALS patient Chris Martin.

Driving 4 Life has reached its $2MM milestone mainly through its grassroots fundraising program. Since it was founded at the 2003 US OPEN by Jeff Julian, Tom Watson and Bruce Edwards, Watson's long time caddy, dozens of golf based fundraisers have brought together thousands of people behind the mission of Driving 4 Life. All funds raised by Driving 4 Life benefit the world's leading ALS research laboratory, ALS TDF (http://www.als.net) based in
Cambridge, MA.
