BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A Nike Golf Ignite driver combined with a Nike Golf One Series ball posted additional victories on both the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour this weekend. This remarkable winning combo came thanks to respective wins by Tiger Woods at the WGC-NEC Invitational and Rick Price at the Xerox Classic.
Tiger's one-stroke triumph over Chris DeMarco marked the 45th Tour title of his career, his fifth of the season, and brought to seven the number of times the Nike Golf Ignite driver and the Nike Golf One ball has combined to win this year on the PGA Tour, according to the Darrell Survey. With that said, no other driver-ball combination has won more. Sporting apparel from the Tiger Woods Collection, a Dri FIT Tour glove and new SP7.5 TW tour footwear, Tiger used the Ignite 460 driver, T60 3-Wood, Nike Forged Blades irons, 56-degree and 60-degree Pro Combo Wedges en route to his victory.
Price's one-shot win in Rochester, NY, using an Ignite 410 driver and One Platinum ball, brings to seven the number of Nationwide Tour victories by Nike Golf staff so far in 2005. His victory comes just two weeks after Nike Golf's Jason Gore won his third Nationwide Tour title to earn his playing privileges on the PGA Tour.
The exciting success of the Nike Ignite and Nike One ball series as the Tour's winningest combination of driver and ball comes during a banner season for Nike Golf and its athletes. Tiger's Tour dominance through his five wins, including two major championship titles, has combined with two Tour victories by Justin Leonard, seven Nationwide Tour wins, and three other international wins by Nike Golf staff. These 17 worldwide triumphs headline Nike Golf's 23 Tour top-10 finishes, and gives Nike Golf its most victorious season to date.
